few months ago, at a special purpose high school in Gangwon-do, a student complaining of bullying made an extreme choice.

At that time, the parents claimed that the school did not respond properly even though the child showed various signs of danger.

At the end of June, a high school freshman living in a dormitory, Mo-gun Lee, suffered from bullying and committed suicide.

[Lee's mother: The seniors also told me that she swears softly, 'I'm talking, come and take that friend', and that I was in tears while being embarrassed.] The

bereaved family said that the school was only trying to reduce the case I burst into anger.

[Lee-gun's mother - homeroom teacher (last June): You said that day that you didn't know that our child harmed himself. (Yes.) (With the child) Have you ever talked about that? (Yes, not at all.)] As a

result of the audit by the Office of Education, it was actually revealed that there were serious problems with the school's coping and academic management.

The homeroom teacher and one other teacher did not take any action after hearing about Lee's self-harm attempt from the students, or concluded that there was no problem after only having a personal interview.

Parents were not even informed of this.

There was no one in the school to serve as the primary safety net for at-risk students.

This is because the school has hired a biology teacher instead of a professional counselor that must be placed.

[Gangwon-do Office of Education Audit Officer: Students are not spending 24 hours with each other, so it was a big mistake to remove the role of a professional counselor and its function.] The

dormitory management method that ignores students' human rights was also a problem.

Students caught possessing a cell phone were required to stand in front of students with a placard with relevant information around their necks, and students caught smoking were forced to undergo a urine test until graduation.

In addition, it was revealed that the penalty point card given to the deceased military was discarded after the incident.

The school district has asked the school corporation to impose disciplinary action against the principal and two teachers.
