A man in his 20s who brutally assaulted an elderly man in his 70s, a resident of an apartment building, was sentenced to three years in prison in the first trial.

The 12th Criminal Settlement of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge An Dong-beom) sentenced a 27-year-old man accused of attempted murder to three years in prison today (26th).

The court said, "It is difficult to believe that it has been proven that there was an intention to kill the victim, albeit inconspicuously, beyond intentional injury."

A is accused of assaulting a resident in his 70s with fists and feet in front of the elevator on the first floor of an apartment in Mapo-gu, Seoul around 3 pm on April 22.

As a result of this incident, Mr. B is known to have suffered 12 weeks of injuries, including a broken face and arm.

Residents around at the time dried Mr. A, but Mr. A, who is about 190 cm tall and with a strong physique, is said to have beaten Mr. B over and over again.

Regarding the reason for the assault during the trial, Mr. A said, "The victim got out of the elevator, so I unconsciously looked at him and said to me, 'What are you looking at?' He said, "I did it by accident because I was acting in a negative way."

Person A is said to have claimed, "I couldn't control my anger at the moment," and "I had no intention of killing."

Previously, the police had booked A on charges of injury and then arrested him on charges of serious injury. In the process of further investigation, based on the degree of damage and eyewitness testimony, the crime name was changed to attempted murder and handed over to the prosecution. Prosecutors demanded 7 years in prison for A.

The prosecution tried to kill Mr. A, who had been in conflict with Mr. B, who was usually in conflict with the noise between floors, but was unsuccessful, even though he was aware that the victim might be killed. .

In the judgment, the court said, "Considering that cerebral hemorrhage by attacking the face can pose a risk to life, there is a suspicion that there is an intention to kill, at least inevitably." It is not a situation where there is no risk of injury."
