The 12th typhoon OMAIS is expected to land on the southern coast of Jeollanam-do on the afternoon of the 23rd as the path of the typhoon OMAIS is slightly to the left than the previous forecast.

The Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration announced that Typhoon Ohmais is expected to pass near Jeju Island on the afternoon of the 23rd and make landfall in the southern coast of Jeollanam-do at night.

Previously, it was expected that it would change to a tropical low pressure zone near about 20 km northwest of Busan as of tomorrow at 9 pm, but in the latest forecast, the northward route is slightly tilted to the left.

Accordingly, it is predicted that at 9 pm tomorrow, it will be close to the sea (South Jeolla Province) about 110 km southwest of Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, and maintain the characteristics of the typhoon.

Accordingly, the typhoon preliminary advisory will be in effect sequentially until tomorrow evening for all areas and seas in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do.

Due to the direct impact of the typhoon, very strong winds of 35-65 km/h are expected tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in Gwangju and Jeonnam.

There is a possibility that it will change into a temperate cyclone after landing, but it is expected that a lot of rain will fall.

The predicted precipitation was 100-300 mm in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do from the 23rd to 24th, and heavy rain of 400 mm or more was predicted in the vicinity of Mt. Jirisan.

The 12th typhoon 'OMAIS' is a name submitted by the United States, meaning 'roaming around'.
