There was a report that a 9-year-old girl was sexually harassed in front of her house by a man in his 30s who was drunk. This man, who said that he touched him because it was cute, turned out to have a similar criminal record, but was released again after 24 hours.

Correspondent Kim Min-jung covered the report.

<Reporter> On

the 10th, in an apartment complex in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, a man in his 30s who was drunk was arguing with residents.

A man who was drinking alone on a bench got off the school bus and molested a 9-year-old girl on her way home.

[Jinmin: Why are you touching a girl? Why are you chasing the kids.]

[Attacker Male: No XX. I just touched it because it was cute. What did I do wrong?] They

even shout at the victim to bring them home.

[The perpetrator: What's wrong with just stroking your face? Please bring the child together. Bring a child who cries and screams.]

This man, who lives in a nearby apartment, was arrested by the police as a current criminal.

The crime took place in an area without CCTV, but a police investigation revealed specific details of the crime.

It was investigated that the man approached the victim and said, "It's cute, where do you live?" and touched his face and hands, and tried to hug the victim he didn't like.

A similar criminal record was also confirmed.

However, this man was released after 24 hours and returned to the neighborhood.

The police's request for a warrant was dismissed by the prosecution.

The police said, "I live in the same neighborhood and I am not a first-time offender, and there is a risk of destroying evidence, such as being able to try to reach an agreement."

Even considering the principle of the investigation without detention, it is pointed out that the judgment did not fully consider the recovery of the damage of the suspect and a 9-year-old child living in a neighborhood.

[Attorney Hye-Jin Seo/Human Rights Director, Korean Women's Bar Association: In judging the arrest, it is also necessary to judge the seriousness of the crime. In the case of a sexual offense that occurred in an apartment village targeting elementary school students, the crime itself is very serious.] The

victim has endured the anxious daily life

alone

.

[The victim's mother: (to the child) I can't say that this man has been released. Why did this person walk down that street to our apartment? why were you sitting there We all shoulder that anxiety.]
