Many people enjoy french fries and carbonated drinks when they eat hamburgers, but some fast food stores in Korea will not be able to taste french fries for the time being.

Some McDonald's stores in Korea offer chicken nuggets or cheese sticks instead of french fries when you purchase a burger set.

The French fries used in major fast food restaurants in Korea are mainly imported frozen from the United States. As the global economy, which was suppressed by COVID-19, partially recovered due to the expansion of vaccine supply, international shipping volume surged, which had an impact on French fries.

In June, Lotteria also suffered from a shortage of french fries. At that time, Lotteria officials said, 'The delivery of french fries has been delayed for a while due to a sharp increase in logistics costs due to an explosion in freight demand'.

Kyochon Chicken also temporarily stopped selling set menus that include french fries this month, but again, the reason was that the supply was not smooth due to unstable sea transportation.

An official from the restaurant industry predicted that the shortage of french fries will continue for the time being, although the timing will vary slightly depending on which company supplies the french fries.
