• Galaxy A announcement: Samsung renews its cheaper phones with better screens and more power

  • Recycling This is how Samsung recycles its old cell phones to turn them into eye disease detectors

Although they may not seem like it, the photos are two mobile phones.

From Samsung, neither more nor less.

The one on the left is the

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

, which looks like a tablet that folds in half;

and the one on the right is the

Galaxy Z Flip 3

, which folds in half, but on the horizontal axis, and evokes flip-flop or clamshell phones from the 2000s.

These are two of the new products that the South Korean company has presented at the

Samsung Unpacked 2021

event

, which took place today, August 11, in a fully digital format.

Although it has not had journalists or influencers or a stage in which to show off its executives,

Unpacked 2021

almost seems like a return to normality in the world of technology.

Samsung has completely renewed its mobile catalog: it has announced these two new mobiles, a new wireless Bluetooth headset,

the Galaxy Buds 2

;

and a new smartwatch,

the Galaxy Watch 4

.

Galaxy Z Flip 3

In the absence of Galaxy Note, which seems that this year is not going to appear (and I know if it will do so again), Samsung seems to have thrown the meat on the spit and have bet heavily on its folding phone that looks like a mobile of the shell of 20 years ago.

It is a high-end phone that stands out for its foldable screen, which has a

6.7-inch

OLED panel

AMOLED with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,640 pixels;

but that is not far behind in power or cameras.

Even if it only has

two rear cameras

, Samsung is one of the companies with the best photos of the phones, so it may be at the height of its Galaxy S21 this year.

We must add the exterior screen, also OLED, 2 inches, but with a larger size than in its first models.

It is intended for selfies or for basic interactions with the phone, such as knowing who has called you.

Although it is

somewhat short on battery

, since its design does not allow more than 3,300mAh (most mobiles today use 4,000 or more), it makes up for it with a Snapdragon 888 processor (the most powerful of this year),

8GB of RAM in its standard version and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Its price will start at 1,099 euros

and will be available in three colors: black, cream and lavender.

Galaxy Z Fold 3

Samsung's other phone, unlike the Flip 3, remains more grounded in luxury and its rarity.

What does not mean that it is powerful and has important new features, such as

compatibility with the S-Pen stylus

that the Galaxy Note have traditionally used.

Its exterior screen is

6.23 inches

, with a very stretched ratio of 25: 9 and it is OLED.

It can be used perfectly as we use traditional mobiles with a single screen right now.

So much so that it has a refresh rate of

120hz

, twice the normal rate.

As for its interior screen, the one that folds, we are facing a

7.6-inch OLED

panel

in almost square proportion, also with

120hz refresh rate

, but compatible with

HDR10 +

to watch series or movies in higher quality.

The phone is powered by a

Snapdragon 888 5G processor

,

12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB or 512GB of storage

.

In terms of cameras, it will have three rear lenses (main, 2x optical zoom and ultra wide angle) as well as a camera for selfies inside.

Its battery is somewhat smaller than last year's model, but it still maintains the

4,400mAh

.

In exchange for this,

Samsung asks for 1,900 euros for the phone

in its 12GB and 256GB configuration, making it one of the most expensive terminals on the market.

It will be available in black, green and silver.

Galaxy Buds 2

It is a renewal of Samsung's mid-range headphones, as the most powerful

Galaxy Buds Pro are still there

.

The

Galaxy Buds 2

include

ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) technologies

and are up to date with the

Bluetooth 5.2

standard

, which should make them consume less battery and maintain a better connection.

An important point is that its case allows

wireless charging using the Qi standard

.

Using the full charge of the case and the headphones, it is possible to take out up to

28 hours of use

, which is reduced to 1

8 hours if the noise cancellation is activated

.

They will be available in

black, white, lavender, yellow and green

, all with a glossy finish;

and will

cost 149 euros in Spain

.

Galaxy Watch 4

Samsung's new range of smart watches comes with two versions of the same design:

the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

.

Both integrate a new type of processor designed by Samsung, the

5-nanometer Exynos W920

.

On paper, it is more powerful and consumes battery more intelligently.

The differences between the two models lie in the size of the body and its design.

While

the Galaxy Watch 4 will have a 40 and 44mm body,

the

Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will feature 42 and 46mm options

.

Its design will also be somewhat more elegant,

They have all the usual functions of high-end smartwatches, from

measuring oxygen in the blood

to

monitoring different types of sports activity

, not forgetting

resistance to water, dust and sweat.

It is important to note that

Samsung has opted for Google's operating system for watches, WearOS

, for these new watches, although the interface has been modified by them and has a One UI layer that Samsung mobile users already know.

Thus,

the icons and operation should be similar

to those already used by previous models.
