As the inoculation schedule is delayed due to the supply and demand problem of the COVID-19 vaccine, the authorities decided to advance the second dose by 5 days if the second dose of mRNA (Moderna/Pfizer) recipients overlaps with the Chuseok holiday next month.

Kwon Geun-yong, head of the adverse reaction investigation team of the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (promotional team), said at a back briefing today (11th), "If the automatic reservation date for the second inoculation is Chuseok holiday, the inoculation date will be advanced by 5 days so that the inoculation interval does not exceed 6 weeks. did," he said.

Accordingly, the automatic reservation date for the second vaccination will be changed to the 15th if the 20th of the following month, the 16th if the 21st, and the 17th if the 22nd.

The promotion team announced on the 9th that due to the disruption in the supply of vaccines from Moderna, if the second dose of mRNA vaccine is scheduled after the 16th of this month, the inoculation interval will be increased from 4 weeks to 6 weeks.

As a result, the reservation date for the second vaccination was pushed back by two weeks, resulting in a problem that some of the recipients of vaccination overlapped with the Chuseok holiday, when the reservation date was the 18th to the 22nd of the following month.

As there are many medical institutions that are closed during the Chuseok holiday, the reservation date has been delayed after the holiday, raising concerns that the interval between the first and second vaccinations may be wider than six weeks.

Team leader Kwon also said, "For 1.75 million people whose inoculation interval exceeds 6 weeks (after 43 days) due to exceeding the number of reservations available at the inoculation institution, the automatic reservation date for the second inoculation has been adjusted to 6 weeks (42 days)." .

The promotion team also added a guide that if the automatic reservation date for the second inoculation is an additional holiday of inoculation institutions other than the Chuseok holiday, medical institutions can request a batch change by date through the public health center.

In case of unavoidable circumstances, individual vaccination targets can be changed within the range of 35 to 42 days between vaccinations through a call center, public health center, or a reserved medical institution.

If the date adjustment range needs to be widened due to overseas departure, etc., the public health center can change it within the range of 28 to 42 days.

Team leader Kwon said, "We plan to send individual text messages on the 12th with the changed automatic reservation date for the second dose for 11.56 million people who have booked the second dose of mRNA vaccine after the 16th."
