In a situation where COVID-19 is rapidly increasing, fines for people who have violated quarantine rules and participated in a pool party have virtually crossed the water.

According to the city of Gangneung on the 10th, they requested an investigation into those who did not wear masks properly at a pool party hosted by a hotel in Gangneung on the 31st of last month, but the police recently refused.

It is known that the police rejected the investigation into the pool party participants as they judged that there was no legal basis.

Accordingly, it has become impossible to impose fines on participants of a pool party held at a hotel in Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung-si on the 31st of last month.

The hotel has sent a list of about 20 people who participated in the pool party, but only their names and phone numbers are listed, so there is no way to further identify personal information such as addresses.

The city of Gangneung is dissatisfied with the police's rejection of the investigation.

Through the investigation, the city was planning to impose fines on people who had a pool party in violation of quarantine rules, but there is no way to identify personal information in a situation where the police refused it.

The city originally planned to file charges against party participants by reviewing the Food Sanitation Act, but it was not possible to identify them, so on the 4th, the Gangneung Police Station requested an investigation.

An official from Gangneung City said, "We respect the position of the police, but there are some legal issues." He said, "It is common nationwide to break the quarantine rules by hanging the door in an unspecified place. How can we punish them in the future?"

Earlier, on the 31st of last month, Gangneung City raided the site of a pool party held by dozens of people at a large hotel in Jumunjin-eup, ordered a 10-day suspension of business for violating the Infectious Disease Prevention and Management Act, and imposed a fine of 1.5 million won.
