The identified driver

The police had managed to identify the driver thanks to debris from his car, a Peugeot 308, as well as thanks to CCTV footage. This is a 25-year-old young man already known to the courts. Investigators from the Val d'Oise departmental security had found his car on Monday, abandoned in Sartrouville, a neighboring town of Argenteuil. Cornered, the suspect went the same evening to the police station, where he was immediately taken into police custody.

According to information from Europe 1, the driver assures, for the moment, that he fell asleep at the wheel at the time of the accident. A version that does not really stick with the hearings of witnesses. The latter explained that he had accelerated to get on the sidewalk, before hitting this teenage girl and her mother. No link has been established between the suspect and the two victims. On the other hand, a third person was at the level of the bus stop, Sunday evening. It is about a 15 year old teenager, who could have been the target of the motorist.
