Building on solid growth in 2021, the HBO Max video streaming platform intends to increase content in 2022 to attract new subscribers.

Warner Bros is thus changing its economic model.

Faced with the pandemic, the giant had chosen to offer simultaneous releases for some of its films, in theaters and on its streaming platform.

The results were rather conclusive in terms of streaming, but the very negative echoes of theater operators, who felt aggrieved, pushed Warner Bros. to change strategy.

From now on, the content that arrives in Day 1 on the platform will all be exclusive content.

Warner Bros. promises in all no less than 10 films specifically produced for the platform in 2022. To this, we must of course add exclusive series and animated films.

Warner does not intend to abandon theaters

For Warner Bros., the exploitation of films in theaters remains essential.

Godzilla vs.

Kong

has managed to bring in more than $ 463 million at the box office, despite the pandemic.

If Warner has not yet announced its line-up for its platform, we can guess that blockbusters will remain reserved for theaters.

Smaller productions should logically land on the platform.

Warner Bros. has also made a commitment with exhibitors to 45 days between theatrical release and the addition of a film on its streaming platform.

HBO Max should also expand its availability to new territories in 2021.
