[Explanation] Subverting the traditional way of competition, shocking visual impact... The 20th National College Robot Competition ROBOCON was launched on July 29 in Mencius’s hometown in Zoucheng, Shandong.

More than 2,000 "super" contestants from 79 universities and 106 participating teams from Northeastern University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, etc. competed on the same stage.

It is worth mentioning that the key theme project of this competition is "Pitching a pot", inspired by the traditional Chinese etiquette project "Pitching a pot". It is a brand new challenge for the contestants. It inherits the excellent Chinese traditional culture through modern technology At the same time, feel the charm of competition on the field.

[Explanation] At the competition site, each participating team sends a four-person combination according to the rules of the competition. Two people operate the outfield robots to start from the "starting area" and complete the task of throwing arrows into the pot within 3 minutes, while the other two operate the infield robots. After passing through the obstacles, turn the body of the kettle to achieve the purpose of interfering with the opponent's arrow throwing. The comprehensive evaluation of the team that takes the lead in achieving the "big win" wins.

The Harbin Institute of Technology's competitive robotics team, which has participated in the 20th competition in a row, is the favorite to win this competition. The team's captain Dong Yahui told reporters that compared to previous competitions, the competition rules this year are more challenging for the participating teams.

According to previous competition questions, we all write a fixed parameter after we get here, and it will be over in ten seconds at the fastest.

However, due to the flexibility of the rules this year, it is impossible to complete the game with a fixed parameter. With the interference of infield cars, the pot is moving, so we may need human judgment or procedural judgment.

Every game is different. In this case, there are higher requirements for the stability of the robot.

[Explanation] The ROBOCON robot team of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which is the same as the competitive robot team of Harbin Institute of Technology, is different from other participating teams. The robots designed and manufactured by this team are full of sense of science and technology. In the warehouse design, the newly developed vision camera is also used on the robot, and the vision algorithm is used to identify the specific position of the pot body and the archery trajectory, so as to achieve the effect of automatically identifying the target of the arrow.

Guo Ziang, the captain of the ROBOCON robot team of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, told reporters that in the process of designing and manufacturing the robot, they discovered the idea of the game from the traditional "pot-throwing" etiquette.

When we received this competition question, we first discovered some ideas from the tradition, because our most traditional pot throwing is to throw with our hands. At the beginning, we also made a way of throwing pots like human hands. It is actually very difficult for the robot to throw the pot, so I changed my mind at this time and adopted a more modern way, using the friction wheel to launch the arrow, which is equivalent to a heritage of ancient and modern times.

[Explanation] The reporter learned at the competition site that ROBOCON, a national college student robot competition, has been successfully held for 19 times since it was launched in 2002. It has attracted more than 30,000 college students from more than 100 well-known colleges and universities in China. The highly influential college student science and technology innovation competition has made groundbreaking contributions to stimulate college students' innovative spirit and cultivate college students' innovative ability.

In the past, students may be more classroom teaching, and the cultivation of his innovative ability may be limited.

As for this competition, it takes about ten months from the question to the completion of the competition.

After getting a topic, everyone has a different idea, and each school has a different idea, so you can see that the robots that are made are completely different.

A college student can complete an engineering project from start to finish in school. The value of this learning mode to the cultivation of students is conceivable. Therefore, after they go out in the future, they will be aggressive and unwilling to admit defeat in society. It came out, so many people who went out from here started their own businesses and succeeded more.

[Commentary] It is reported that the winner of this competition will represent China in the Asia-Pacific University Robotics Competition.
