Wang Ki-chun, a former national judo player who was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor, was sentenced to six years in prison.

The 3rd division of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Ahn Cheol-sang) confirmed today (29th) the lower court sentenced to six years in prison by Mr. Wang, who was indicted for violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Youth (Juvenile Sexuality Protection Act).

In February 2017, Wang was handed over to trial on charges of sexually assaulting a young student, Miss A, who attended the gym he runs.

There are also charges of sexually abusing and sexually abusing Ms. B while having sex 10 times with Ms. B, a teenager who attended the gym from August 2019 to February of last year (violation of the Child Welfare Act), and attempting to sexually assault Ms. B in February of last year.

Prosecutors charged Wang with rape and violating the Child Welfare Act under the Juvenile Sexual Protection Act and handed it over to trial.

However, Ms. Wang argued that she had consensual sexual intercourse with the victims at trial, and that Ms. B did not qualify as sexual abuse because she has sexual values and judgment.

Contrary to the prosecution's assertion, the first trial court sentenced Wang to six years in prison, stating that Mr. Wang did not assault or threaten the victims enough to prevent them from protesting, applying the charge of adultery by force under the Juvenile Sexual Protection Act.

The court explained, "The accused, who was not forgiven by the victims, denied the crime and even insisted on an agreement without reflecting on it.

The second trial dismissed the appeal of Mr. Wang and the prosecution, and the Supreme Court also dismissed the appeal, saying that there was no mistake in the judgment of the original court.
