The Supreme Court Candidate Recommendation Committee has recommended Sohn Bong-gi, Deputy Judge of Daegu District Court, Myung-ho Ha, Professor at Korea University Law School, and Kyung-mi Oh, Deputy Chief Judge of Jeonju Tribunal of Gwangju High Court, to succeed Justice Ki-taek Lee, whose term of office expires in September.



The Supreme Court Candidate Recommendation Committee held a meeting at the Supreme Court building on the afternoon of the 29th, presided over by Chairman Park Eun-jung, and selected these three candidates as new Supreme Court Justices and delivered them in writing to Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo.



Chairman Park said, “The candidates who are determined to be strong in the constitutional spirit of the separation of powers and the will to guarantee the basic rights of the people and who embrace the various values ​​of our society while also having insight into the changes of the times and the expectations of society, as well as morality and integrity, recommended," he said.



The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will propose to appoint one new Supreme Court Justice candidate to President Moon Jae-in, taking into consideration the recommendations of the Recommendation Committee and the results of collecting opinions.



The Supreme Court plans to collect relevant information such as the list of candidates and major judgments on the court's website and collect opinions by the 5th of next month.
