The Civil Guard has a

new pistol and his name is Ramon

.

Despite its authentic name, this 9mm is a versatile, compact and light weapon

made in Israel

with which several thousand agents of the Benemérita will soon be equipped.

Ramon's arrival in Spain occurs after a public tender launched by the body for the purchase "of a minimum of 6,000 semi-automatic pistols, caliber 9mm. Parabellum to provide personnel from various Civil Guard Units", which

had been budgeted in 2.99 million euros

.

However, the Israeli company - in the hands of a Spanish Stock Company also with strong links with Israel - has managed to win the contract thanks to the presentation of

an offer for 1.95 million euros, a third below the budget by the State

, as recorded in the bidding process.

In this way, the Benemérita has acquired

6,000 Ramon pistols and their holsters for a price of 269 euros per unit

(before taxes), according to the documentation to which PIXEL has had access.

This is the lowest price for which these pistols have ever been sold since, according to the documentation sent by the Israeli company, it has already sold 1,700 Ramon pistols at this price for the Thai Police, but

not including the anti-theft security pistols, that in the retail market cost between 65 and 85 euros per unit

.

Israeli military equipment and "shooting and combat courses"

According to the documentation provided during the bidding process, the Israeli Etam has teamed up with the company

Guardian Homeland Security SA

, the

Spanish subsidiary of the Israeli company

that Guardian Holdings LTD.

In addition to the importation of military, police and firefighter equipment, Homeland Security offers "both in Spanish territory and in Israeli territory" different courses related to the military and intelligence services as "

combat courses in urban areas

" , "shooting and combat courses in high-risk areas", "telephone interrogation courses" or locksmith, among others.

Ramon and the peephole that glows in the dark

The Israeli Ramon pistol has

a design almost identical to that of the mythical third and fourth generation Austrian Glock 19s

that many National Police officers use as a regulation weapon.

In addition to the dimensions -18.3 centimeters long, 12.9 high and 3.2 at its widest point- and the shape of the weapon: the design of the grip -with ergonomic shape for the fingers-,

the layout The safety button, the magazine release button and the slide release button on the

Ramon are practically identical to those on the Austrian pistol.

Even the slide of the Israeli pistol is practically the same as that of the Glock 19 and has the same system to disassemble it.

However, in Ramon's case the cocking grooves are diagonally

arranged

and the

sight glass has phosphor green dots that glow in the dark

.

In fact, the closest Etam competitor to win the contract for the pistols for the Civil Guard was Glock, but the price difference tipped the balance for the Israeli company.

The Glock were offered for 305.87 euros per unit while the Ramon had a price of 269 euros per unit

.

However, despite having a more adjusted price,

Ramon was the pistol that scored the best in criteria such as "precision"

(where it scored much better than its direct competitors), as well as in the "ergonomics, operability and comfort" section. according to the weapons valuation file prepared by the Civil Guard.

With a capacity

of 15-17 round magazines

, the Ramon pistol weighs 630 grams without magazine (30 grams more than the Glock 19) and is

made of polymer and steel

.

It is an extremely versatile weapon manufactured in

four colors

(desert, black, olive green and navy gray) that can

be optionally equipped with a compensator and a silencer

.

Likewise, it can be equipped with

two types of triggers

: a standard one and a quick-action one that is activated by exerting a lower pressure.

In addition, the Israeli company also offers a

Ramon

configuration for

special forces with optical sight and improved handle.
