The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has started a review to expand the domestic vaccination age for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from 18 years old or older to 12 years old or older.

According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on the 27th, GC Green Cross, which is in charge of licensing and distributing the Moderna vaccine in Korea, applied for a change of permission to extend the vaccination age to 12 years of age or older.

GC Green Cross said that it submitted data from clinical trials conducted in the United States on 3,732 adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, and confirmed that the clinical trial confirmed the immunogenicity comparison, infection prevention effect, and safety.

Earlier on the 23rd, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved the Moderna vaccine for 12 to 17 years of age.
