▲ The half-moon-breasted bear that was killed at the time

Earlier this month, a farm owner who reported that "two half-breasted bears escaped" at a bear breeding farm in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, reversed the statement, saying, "One bear escaped in the first place."

Yongin City and the Ministry of Environment found one animal and killed it immediately after receiving the report, but the other animal has been missing in the meantime.

The Yongin Eastern Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said yesterday (26th) that they seized and searched the farm and obtained a statement from farm owner A that "there was only one bear that escaped from the beginning."

The police believe that Mr. A made a false statement to hide his illegal slaughter.

Police found a part of a bear carcass on Mr. A's farm and are investigating whether the bear was illegally slaughtered in the past.

There were 20 bears on Mr. A's farm, but it is said that there are currently 17 of them excluding one that was killed after escaping, one that was presumed to be slaughtered, and one that was recently moved to another place.

The police are considering adding a charge of obstruction of public duty to Mr.

Earlier, at around 10:30 a.m. on the 6th, reports were received of the disappearance of two male half-breasted bears weighing about 60 kg, three years old, at the bear farm of Mr. A in Lee Dong-eup, Yongin City.

On the same day, Yongin City and others found and killed one of the animals at the back of the Sookmyung Women's University Training Center, about 1km away from the farm, and continued patrol around the farm.
