The family of the Sewol ferry victims, who have opposed the removal of the Sewol ferry memory space in Gwanghwamun Square, decided to move the memory space to a temporary space provided by the Seoul City Council.

It is said that the temporary space was prepared in the lobby and on the wall of the Seoul City Council.

The bereaved family plans to temporarily move the memory space to this location while the restructuring of Gwanghwamun Square is in progress, and then continue discussions with the city of Seoul.

Previously, the bereaved family and the city of Seoul had been fighting over the issue of removing the memory space, unable to narrow their differences of opinion.

Yesterday, the deadline for demolition announced by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Kim Hyuk, head of the city's general affairs department, visited the memory space three times, but no progress was made.

It is reported that this arbitration plan was successfully discussed during a meeting with the bereaved family of the Democratic Party Chairman Song Young-gil and the Seoul City Council Chairman, who visited the memory space on the afternoon of the 26th.

The bereaved family will hold a press conference in front of the memory space at 10 am on the same day to announce their position and move the items in the memory space to the Seoul City Council.
