Access to the beta of Android Auto, the embedded version of Google for vehicles, has just been extended to all users with an Android smartphone, reports

This beta version allows users to benefit from the new features of the on-board system before anyone else.

Android Auto allows you to connect your phone to your car in particular to access certain features, such as GPS via Google Maps, or even reading SMS and making phone calls.

However, as with its direct competitor Apple CarPlay, you must have a compatible car to access most of the features offered by Android Auto.

A registration list already complete

According to the official website, 500 vehicle models are currently compatible with Android Auto.

To obtain access to this now public beta, you must register through the dedicated page while being logged in to your Google account.

At the moment, however, the panel of testers is full but places could become available as and when.

In parallel, Google also extended the list of smartphones that can access the beta of the new version of the Android OS, Android 12. For several months, only Google Pixel phones had access.

For the moment, no official release date has been announced but Android 12 has nevertheless entered the last phases of its development.
