Yesterday (26th), 41 people were caught by the authorities, including members of an unregistered church who were trying to hold a face-to-face worship service in a building in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The Gangnam-gu Office announced today (26th) that it plans to impose a fine and 10 days of suspension of operation on 40 members and a 53-year-old pastor of Church A who violated quarantine rules and held a face-to-face worship service.

They were caught on the first floor of a building in Cheongdam-dong around 1:40 pm yesterday, but were caught by the police and ward office staff who were called to the service after receiving a report.

It is said that in the space mainly used as a ceremonial hall, there was a pulpit and seats with microphones installed so that you could watch the worship service.

The police and the ward office, who came to the scene after receiving a report that "a lot of people seem to be gathering for worship," identified the personal information of the church members and dispersed them.

Church A is said to be not officially registered.

A person in charge of the Gangnam-gu office explained, "A fine of 100,000 won will be imposed on the members of the church and 1.5 million won on the church side." "We will also take administrative measures for 10 days of suspension of operation."

However, he said, "There has been no damage from the face-to-face worship, so we are not considering a police complaint."

An official from the Gangnam Police Station said, "If an accusation is received from the ward office in the future, we will start an investigation."
