Yesterday (24th), the number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 was in the late 1,400s, the highest as of the weekend. The number of confirmed cases by 9 pm a while ago also exceeded 1,200. In particular, as the number of confirmed cases in non-metropolitan areas continues to increase, we have decided to apply the 3rd stage of social distancing to the entire non-metropolitan area from Tuesday the next day.

As 23 employees have been confirmed since the 23rd, Kia Motors decided to temporarily close the factory for one day.

It is worrying that the infection tax in the metropolitan area does not decrease like this, but it is more urgent in the non-metropolitan area.

As the proportion of confirmed cases in non-metropolitan areas rose to 38%, the government decided to raise the distance from the entire non-metropolitan area to level 3 from the 27th.

[Kwon Deok-cheol/Minister of Health and Welfare: (I am taking this measure) It is really sad and apologetic. After discussions with local governments and experts, it has been decided to raise the level (for non-metropolitan areas) to level 3.] The

period is 2 weeks until the 8th of the next month.

In most areas of the non-metropolitan area, business hours of multi-use facilities such as restaurants and cafes are limited to 10 p.m., and

private gatherings are

limited to

4 people.

Night drinking is also prohibited in crowded parks, resorts and beaches.

However, in the case of cities and counties with a population of less than 100,000, the local governments are allowed to autonomously decide whether to upgrade to the third stage.

Among Gangneung and Yangyang in Gangwon-do, which had already been in the 4th stage of social distancing, Gangneung decided to lower it to 3rd stage in line with other cities and provinces.

Daejeon City decided to apply the 4th level from the 27th as the average number of confirmed cases per day for the past week exceeded the 4th level of 71.

The quarantine authorities also warned that the detection rate of delta mutations soared to 48% last week, and that it is spreading rapidly in both metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas.
