"In the Russian Federation, not a single case of human infection with the H5N6 influenza virus has been recorded, and at present there is no reason to talk about an increase in the risk of such cases in the future," the TASS center quotes a message.

Vektor noted that in total, since 2014, 36 cases of infection with this type of influenza have been detected in the world: 35 in China and one in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

In all cases, the virus was not transmitted from person to person.

In early June, the World Health Organization said it would not recommend any travel or trade restrictions due to a new strain of avian influenza in China.
