On the hill road, a passenger car consignment vehicle hit a crosswalk and a vehicle on the other side one after another, killing three elderly people and 9 others with serious injuries.



Today (20th) at around 8:56 am, at Hanjae Intersection in Gwangmu-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, a passenger car consigned crossed the crosswalk and collided with 10 cars one after another, injuring 12 people.



A consignment vehicle struck six people crossing the crosswalk and was taken to the hospital, but three people including A (80), B (72), and C (73) died.



Mr. A and others were elderly people who went to work in public, and they suffered an embarrassment while crossing the street with their companions.



These are public workers who were put into the project to create a beautiful village, and they were divided into groups from 8 am today and were doing beautification such as weed removal and garbage collection.



At the time of the accident, 11 people, including Mr. A, were known to have crossed the crosswalk to move to the place of work.



The injured are being treated at Jeil Hospital and Jeil Hospital in Yeosu.




The consignment vehicle carrying 6 cars crossed the crosswalk while making a right turn on the downhill road, collided with 10 vehicles on the opposite side in succession, and barely stopped.



The crosswalk where the accident occurred was frequently used by residents and merchants using the Seo Market, resulting in significant casualties.



Cars were tangled in the shock of the accident, and the calm shopping street became a chaos.



A merchant who witnessed the accident said, "It sounded like an explosion, and when I went out, it was a mess." "Just looking at the scene of the accident, my heart was pounding and I couldn't calm down, so I took medicine."



The city of Yeosu decided to hold an emergency response meeting to assess the situation of the accident, and to provide support such as burial arrangements and insurance.



On the road where the accident occurred, on March 13, a 4.5 ton truck driving downhill collided with a facility and the driver was seriously injured.



The truck was known to have a brake failure, and the driver's base avoided a collision with another vehicle and no major damage occurred.



Police and fire departments are investigating the exact cause of the accident, believing that the accident may have occurred because the brakes of the consignment vehicle had ruptured.



The police have booked the driver of the consignment vehicle for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning Traffic Accidents and are investigating.
