28th of last month, an expedition led by Captain Hongbin Kim arrived at the base camp to climb Broad Peak in the Himalayas.

[Captain Hongbin Kim (28th of last month): There is a difference in temperature between day and night in many ways, but I will overcome this and climb to the top. Thank you.]

Broad Peak is the 12th highest mountain peak in the world located on the border of China and Pakistan

. It

is only 8km away from K2, the second highest mountain in the world, so it is also called K3. It is 8,047m above sea level.

Captain Kim wrote a new record in human history by successfully climbing the summit of Broad Peak on the 18th local time.

It was the first time for a disabled person to climb all 14 peaks of the 8,000m level in the Himalayas.

However, after descending about 150m from the summit, it fell into a crevice, a deep fissure, near 7,900m above sea level.

It was 400m ahead of Camp 4, where the crews who came down first were waiting.

After receiving a rescue call, a nearby Russian climbing team searched and found Captain Kim 11 hours after he disappeared.

One search team went down the crevasses and watered the exhausted Captain Kim.

However, it is reported that Captain Kim was missing as he was going up the crevasses using a climbing machine, a device that climbs on a rope, and fell down when the frozen rope broke in the strong cold.

The Korean government has requested the Pakistan and Chinese governments to dispatch search helicopters and rescue teams, but the search operation is not easy due to the high altitude and bad weather.

Captain Kim lost ten fingers to a frostbite while climbing McKinley, the highest peak in North America in 1991, but became the world's first disabled person to climb all the highest peaks on seven continents, becoming a legend in the world's mountaineering world.

[Captain Hongbin Kim (after climbing Everest in May 2007): I did not look back to either die or live. There was no such thing as giving up.]

After successfully climbing the Broad Peak, Captain Kim, who left the last radio message saying, "Fellow Koreans, exhausted from Corona, be strong", I sincerely hope that he will create a miracle again with his indomitable will.
