A woman in her 30s who hit and killed a worker in her 60s while driving a Benz while intoxicated admitted all charges at the first trial.

The Seoul Eastern District Court's 7th Criminal Division (Judge Park So-yeon) held the first trial against Mr. A, who was charged with violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (Dangerous Driving Manslaughter), etc. today (20th).

Previously, Mr. A was charged with striking and killing Mr. B, who was working to demolish a concrete soundproof wall on Subway Line 2 on the road in front of an LPG filling station in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul around 2:00 a.m. on May 24.

After hitting B, Mr. A collided with the crane's tipping-prevention support, and then a fire broke out in the vehicle.

The fire was extinguished 12 minutes after the fire brigade was dispatched, but B died about 10 minutes after the accident.

At the time of the accident, the blood alcohol level of Mr. A was found to be 0.188%, which is the level of license revocation. A was found to have received a summary order of 4 million won in fines from the Seoul Central District Court for drunk driving last year as well.

At the trial, Mr. A's lawyer said, "I admit all the charges and agree with the evidence," but "it takes a lot of time (until the next trial date) to reach an agreement with the victim."

Mr. A, who wept bitterly throughout the trial, apologized to the bereaved family "I'm sorry" as he left the courtroom.

However, the bereaved family emphasized, "The most difficult thing was that I had to let go without seeing my father's face."

The court will proceed with the questioning of the accused at the next trial, scheduled for September 17.
