On a market day, a bus full of passengers fell sideways in the aftermath of a collision, injuring 40 people.

At around 8:25 am today (19th), a military bus and a 3.5 ton truck collided at an intersection in Seongseong-myeon, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do.

A total of 42 people, including 41 bus passengers and drivers and one truck driver, were injured (6 seriously injured) and transported to the hospital in the accident.

At the intersection, the bus collided with the side of the bus's driver's seat and the bus tipped over.

Based on the fact that the collision occurred at the intersection, the police estimate that one of the two vehicles violated the signal, but the driver's statements were mixed and the vehicle that violated the signal is being investigated.

The bus goes to Gangjin-eup via several stops in Seongseong-myeon, and it is said that a large number of passengers boarded the bus from Gangjin-eup to the market today.

In particular, the bus where the accident occurred was a bus with 16 seats (including the driver's seat) and a total of 20 people that can stand up to 4 people, and it was found that 40 passengers were on board at the time of the accident.

Police will also consider whether carrying twice the capacity of the passengers is a violation of the law.
