There is no place safe from Corona in Korea right now. As the pandemic that started in the metropolitan area spread across the country, the average daily number of confirmed cases in areas excluding the metropolitan area doubled within a week. So, starting tomorrow (15th), there are many areas where the level of social distancing is going up.

Reporter Jang Se-man will tell you where it is and the details.

<Reporter> In the

non-metropolitan area, the spread is severe in Jeju, Daejeon, and Chungnam.

In Jeju, there were 168 confirmed cases this month, of which 38% were residents of other areas, including the metropolitan area.

The infection continues centering on a song club visited by a confirmed person in Gyeonggi-do, Cheonan-do, Chungnam, where 33 people were confirmed yesterday.

The proportion of confirmed cases in non-metropolitan areas has exceeded 20% for six consecutive days.

The government has decided to upgrade the social distancing level in 10 out of 14 cities and provinces in the non-metropolitan area to level 2 starting tomorrow.

In the second stage, private gatherings of up to 8 people are possible, and restaurants, cafes and entertainment facilities are also open until midnight.

Even in the same 2nd stage, there are differences depending on the infection situation in each region.

In Daejeon and North Chungcheong Province, the two-step system is applied, allowing up to 4 people to gather, but the implementation period and business hours are different.

Up to 4 people can gather in Cheonan and Asan, close to the metropolitan area in Chungnam, and up to 8 people in the rest of the region.

On the 12th, Jeju Island, which was upgraded to the second stage, additionally issued an order to ban the gathering of entertainment facilities.

Four locations, including Sejong, Jeollabuk-do, Jeonnam, and Gyeongbuk, maintained the first stage, but Sejong reduced the number of private gatherings to four people.

[Sohn Young-rae / Head of Social Strategy Division, Central Accident Resolving Headquarters: If regulations on this livelihood, which are uniform across the country, start to work, the social and economic damage may increase unnecessarily.]

Point out that it is difficult to stop the spread with just one upgrade

.

It's tedious.

[Chun Eun-mi/Professor of Pulmonary Medicine, Ewha Womans University Mok-dong Hospital: Right now, the metropolitan area and non-metropolitan areas need to move together, and I think that the effect can be seen only when upgrading to level 3 or higher, mainly in local large cities.] For

this reason, some local

governments

this week We are also considering further raising the level of social distancing.
