Reports came in that a woman on her way home was assaulted and molested by a man in her 50s, whom she had never met.

It happened on a main road where people go, and reporter Kim Min-jung covered the situation at the time and the process of handling the case.

<Reporter> At

10 pm on the 16th of last month, it was an ordinary day for 32-year-old A, until he went home after exercising.

It was in an instant that everyday life turned into a nightmare.

[Mr A/Victim: I felt the shadow of a man following me (I walked quickly.) I had to cross a traffic light, so I stopped there, but suddenly grabbed my hair and threw me on the floor… .]

A man who had never met one came after him and started beating Mr. A with his fists and feet.

[Mr A/Victim: (Uncontrollably screaming) He pressed his face with his hands, touched my body, and ran away while trying to open his zipper.] With

the help of a passerby from across the street, the man was rescued on the spot. Caught.

According to the police investigation, it was a man in his early 50s.

Mr. A appealed to the man that he suffered not only assault but also sexual assault, but the charges applied by the police were not sexual offenses, but simple injuries.

This is because the perpetrator denied the allegation of molestation, and the molestation scene was not seen because it was caught in the blind spot of the CCTV.

[Police officer in charge: Everyone knows that there was such a purpose (sex crime). However, the CCTV is a blind spot, so it is completely invisible. After a meeting to get a warrant issued, it was confirmed (suspected of injury)… .]

However, due to the nature of sexual offenses, there are many cases where there is no direct evidence, so in some cases, sexual harassment was admitted in a situation similar to Mr. A.

Last year, the Daejeon District Court acknowledged forced molestation of a middle-aged man who struck an unknown 18-year-old girl by surprise when she refused to do so.

This is because there was a Supreme Court precedent that "the crime of forced molestation includes cases in which assault itself is recognized as molestation".

[Seo Hye-jin / Human Rights Director, Women's Bar Association: Shanghai is less than 10 years old. If it turns out to be a forced molestation or forced molestation injury, the statutory sentence is much higher because it is imprisonment for more than 5 years.]

The perpetrator, who has been arrested only for injuries, is about to face the first trial.
