Businesses that have been operating illegally from the first day when the 4th stage of social distancing, which prohibits gatherings of three or more people after 6 pm in the metropolitan area, have been caught.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that it had cracked down on 33 people, including a 40-year-old owner A and a customer, who were operating illegally at a Danran pub in Yeoksam-dong around 10:40 pm yesterday (12th) on charges of violating the Infectious Disease Prevention Act.

Mr. A responded to the crackdown by opening the door on his own when the police and fire departments tried to forcefully open the business door.

A police official said, "We have checked the personal information of a total of 33 people, including business owners and customers, and we plan to notify the ward office to be charged with and fined for negligence."

The Songpa Police Station in Seoul also cracked down on danran pubs, entertainment pubs, and karaoke bars in the Garak-dong area from 9:00 pm yesterday to 3:00 am the next day, and caught a total of 31 people, including 3 owners, 2 employees, 2 waitresses, and 24 customers.

It was found that the Danran pub that was caught hired an entertainment customer, and the karaoke bar sold alcohol.

An official from Songpa Station said, "We will apply the charges of violating the Infectious Disease Prevention Act to all those caught and request administrative action from the ward office for businesses that have operated illegally."
