It was announced today (13th) that a 40-year-old bicycle rider found three elementary school students who were drowning in a river and jumped into the water to rescue them.

Yesterday around 6:19 pm, while riding a bicycle on the causeway of Gwangnyeocheon Stream in Haman, Gyeongnam, Lee Dong-geun (46) heard a child's shout.

Looking around, I saw three boys who only thought they were playing in the water, struggling and asking for help, saying, "Please help me."

Mr. Lee threw the bike away and without delay jumped into the water to rescue the children one after another.

I was impatient and anxious that I might lose precious lives while saving each and every child.

“It took less than 5 minutes to save all three people, but it felt like it took a lot longer,” Lee said.

Thanks to Lee's quick rescue, the children who got out of the water safely were transferred to a nearby hospital through the 119 rescue team.

All the children were confirmed to have no significant life-threatening symptoms except for symptoms such as low energy and chills.

Mr. Lee, who was exhausted after saving a precious life, is also currently suffering from body aches and muscle pain, but it has been found that there are no major health problems.

These 8 and 9-year-old brothers and 12-year-old neighborhood friends asked for help when they fell into a depth of about 2 meters while playing in the water with their peers in Gwangryeocheon.

Mr. Lee, who has been swimming for 10 years, said he started swimming when his two children were young, thinking, 'If our children fall into the water, we need to save them'.

I was able to rescue three children safely because I had been swimming in the local pool until Corona 19.

In a media call, Mr. Lee said, "As I rescued the children, I remembered my two daughters, who are now middle and high school students.
