WhatsApp's "View Once" ephemeral messages land on iOS

The ephemeral messages are now available on the iOS application of WhatsApp, reports the specialized site

this Friday.

This feature called "View Once", now available in beta version 2.21.140.9, was implemented in June on Android.

It is very similar to the one already available on Facebook Messenger and Instagram.

On the other hand, WhatsApp does not tell the sender of the content if the recipient took a screenshot before it was destroyed.

A new button in the chat bar

Users of this new beta version will therefore see the appearance of a new button in the chat bar.

By activating this mode, the messages automatically switch to ephemeral mode.

The sender will be kept informed when the recipient has opened and viewed its contents.

Other changes accompany this update.

Notifications will now show stickers, GIFs, videos, and images.
