For now, with its Model 3, Tesla comes first in sales of electric vehicles in France.
By offering a vehicle at 21,000 euros, the firm of Elon Musk would compete with the Volkswagen ID.3, the Nissan LEAF or the Kia Niro EV specifies the information media.
But according to Autocar, the price in Europe of this vehicle should be increased by a few thousand euros.
New Tesla batteries
To achieve price tightening, Tesla is likely to rely on the new batteries it intends to produce itself.
This mode of production will allow it to reduce manufacturing costs by half and will provide five times more energy and up to 16% more autonomy per charge, specifies the British media.
The minimum autonomy of this future vehicle should be set at 400 km.
Probably called Model 2, Tesla's cheapest vehicle will look like a compact sedan.
Its production could start at the brand's new German factory in Berlin, where the Model 3 and Y for the European market will soon be released.
Its commercialization could take place in 2023.
