These days, the weather has suddenly started pouring rain, but this weekend, the rainy season starts from Jeju Island. It is ten days later than the normal year, and it is the first time in 39 years that the rainy season begins in July.

How the rainy season will last this summer, reporter Seo Dong-gyun.

<Reporter> The

rain that is hard to see in front of you hits the windshield of the car, and the puddle of water on the road quickly fills up.

Last May, it rained for 17 days in Seoul, the most frequent in 50 years.

It has been raining for ten days this month as well.

However, the recent rains are not monsoon rains.

The atmosphere was unstable and it rained as the cold air in the sky and the warm air that flowed into the lower layers met.

The rainy season is expected to start this weekend in Jeju Island.

[Woo Jin-gyu / Meteorological Administration Forecast Analyst: Rain has been introduced on Jeju Island on the 2nd day. From this point on, it is judged that Jeju Island is entering the rainy season… .] It

is the 'tardening rainy season' that comes in July for the first time in 39 years since 1982, which is almost 10 days later than usual.

As the 5th typhoon 'Champi' pushed hot air, the strongly developed high pressure in the North Pacific is pushing up the rainy season front in the sea south of Japan to Korea.

The rain is expected to start falling from Jeju Island around the 2nd of next month and gradually expand to the south, and then to Chungcheong Province on the 7th or 8th.

However, depending on the development of low pressure, the situation is very flexible, the Korea Meteorological Administration said.

[Woo Jin-gyu / Meteorological Administration Forecast Analyst: At the beginning, low pressures are involved, and the rain clouds accompanying the stagnant front are further strengthened… .]

Just because the rainy season started late does not mean that the period is shortened, so thorough preparation is necessary.
