In Daejeon, more than two weeks have passed since the completion of all vaccinations against COVID-19.

According to the city of Daejeon today (28th), there have been 4 breakthrough infections in the region so far.

It was found that a person in his 70s (Daejeon No. 2543) who tested positive for COVID-19 on the 23rd received the Pfizer vaccine twice on the 4th and 24th of last month.

It was confirmed a month after the second vaccination was completed.

He is a member of a church in Yongsan-dong, Yuseong-gu, where the mass infection occurred, and quarantine authorities believe that he was infected by contact within the church.

In connection with the group infection at the Tutoring Academy in Songchon-dong, Daedeok-gu, a person in their 40s (Daejeon #2399, uncle of a hagwon student) who was confirmed on the 16th had completed the Pfizer vaccine on April 28th, seven weeks before the confirmation.

A person in his 40s (Daejeon No. 2398), whose route of infection was not confirmed, also received the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine on the 25th of last month, and three weeks later, on the 16th, he was tested positive for Corona19.

A teenager (No. 2378 in Daejeon), who was confirmed on the 15th during self-isolation after entering the United States, also received the Pfizer vaccine on April 2 and 23 in the United States.

It was confirmed more than 7 weeks after the completion of the vaccination.

A quarantine official said, "If the immunity formed by vaccination is not sufficient or has disappeared at an early stage, or if a mutant virus has invaded, a breakthrough infection may occur. different," he begged.

In Daejeon, since March of this year, a total of 42 people have been infected with the mutated virus.

There were 39 alpha mutations, so-called British mutations, one beta mutation originating in South Africa, and two delta mutations originating in India.

It is known that the delta mutation is 1.6 times stronger than the alpha mutation, and the two confirmed cases in Daejeon are both overseas travelers and quarantined upon arrival, so there are no contacts in the region.
