Here are the games announced by Devolver, the independent American publisher, during E3 2021.

Trek to Yomi

(PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

The biggest announcement of the evening,

Trek to Yomi

is a declaration of love for the samurai films of the 60s and 70s. Entirely in black and white, the game of Flying Wild Hog (

Shadow Warrior

) caused a sensation.

Players will play as a young warrior who has sworn to protect his city from his father.

The game will be played like a 2D title, but with a real feeling of depth in the settings.

Death's Door

(PC, Xbox One)

Following in the footsteps of a

Hades

,

Death's Door

promises to be one of the independent pearls of this year. The title will be released on PC and Xbox on July 20 already. It will propel players into a bizarre world where crows are tasked with collecting souls from the dead. Harvesting and punching in at set times may seem monotonous, but that's the life honest crows have decided to lead. The daily life of one of these birds comes alive a little when the soul assigned to him is stolen: he must then hunt down his desperate thief to a strange kingdom, where death has no hold. Creatures grow there well past their expiration date, overflowing with greed and power. With its inspired art direction and edgy gameplay,

Death's Door

could be one of the nice surprises of this year.

Wizard with a gun

(PC, Switch)

Another little surprise from the keynote, the announcement of

Wizard with a Gun

, an online cooperative shooter that will immerse players in a fantasy world where magic is commonplace.

In

Wizard with a Gun

, players will be able to progress alone or in a team, and collect resources over the levels to craft weapons and customize their wizard.

The title will only be released on PC and Switch, however, in 2022.

Inscryption

(PC)

On the PC side, we were treated to the announcement of Escryption, a curious card game that will mix elements of deckbuilding, role-playing games, escape game and roguelite.

It's impossible to know what to expect from the very mysterious trailer, but

Inscryption

has caught the eye of quite a few players nonetheless.

Demon Throttle

(Switch)

Devolver also took advantage of the event to unveil a small exclusive on Switch, with

Demon Throttle

, the new game from the creators of

Gato Roboto

.

A shoot them up with old school visuals that could appeal to collectors, especially since the game will only be available in physical format.

Devolver has indeed made the very curious choice not to offer it in digital version.

A new trailer for

Shadow Warrior 3

(PC, PS4, Xbox One)

It's hard not to also talk about the highly anticipated

Shadow Warrior 3

, long awaited by fans.

A new trailer has been unveiled.

The game still doesn't have a release date, but looks very promising.

The formula remains the same: it's fast-FPS in arenas, always in sets made in Asia.

The title should logically be released in 2021.
