Water leisure accidents in Goseong, Gangwon Province, over the weekend, were rescued by the Coast Guard and others.

The Sokcho Maritime Police Station said yesterday (19th) that a report came in at around 4:25 pm in the 70m waters in front of an apartment in Songpo-ri, Geojin-eup, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, saying that 'the yacht is tilted 90 degrees and people are hanging'.

The 2.6t sailing yacht A, where the accident occurred, had five people on board, including the 70-year-old Lee, the captain.

The Coast Guard dispatched a security vessel, a coastal rescue boat, a helicopter, and a rescue team to rescue two people, and the three managed to get out of the water using a tube handed to them by a nearby kayak worker.

All five people were wearing life jackets, and it was said that their lives were not in danger.

Also, yesterday at around 5:24 pm, in the waters in front of Gonghyeonjin Port, Jukwang-myeon, Goseong-gun, a rubber boat with two people on it was reported that it did not start due to engine failure and was rescued.

A Sokcho Coast Guard official urged, "When doing water leisure activities, check the sea weather in advance, and be sure to follow safety rules such as wearing a life jacket and enjoy safely."
