Game developer EA temporarily shows players what is in his loot boxes.
However, these are only specific packs from the Festival of FUTball campaign, which runs from June 11 to July 16.
It is not clear whether the feature will also be used in other packages after that.
The loot boxes of FIFA 21 can be compared to packs of football cards.
Normally you don't know what you're getting.
In addition, the rarity and value of the content can vary widely.
With the Preview Packs, as these specific packs are called, customers can see the contents of the loot box before purchasing.
This can be done with the Preview button at the top right of the screen.
After that, the customer is given the choice to buy the package or to cancel the payment.
If the player wants to buy the loot box, the game will ask for a final confirmation before the transaction takes place.
If he doesn't want the package, a twenty-hour timer starts.
The player cannot view a new loot box until the timer runs out.
Customers can override the timer by purchasing the pack.
The Gaming Authority considers the game element surrounding the digital packages in FIFA to be gambling and last year imposed a penalty of 500 thousand euros per month on EA.
The penalty can amount to a maximum of 5 million euros.
