• At 26, Ludivine Romary is launching a connected bracelet capable of giving the alert in one click in the event of an assault.

  • Named MyEli, its funding has just been completed on the participatory site Ulule, pending its marketing at the end of 2021.

  • Dedicated to women, MyEli can be declined for children, but also for men and in particular homosexuals, many of whom would also expect this type of device.

At 26, Ludivine Romary is preparing the launch of MyEli, for which she has just completed the crowdfunding on Ulule.

Dedicated to women, this bracelet connected to a smartphone allows in one click on its black dome to give the alert in the event of an assault, or, in two clicks, to warn that we have returned home when we return home. 'an evening.

Born as part of a study project, marketed at the end of 2021, this bracelet can then be declined for children, but also for men.

Where did the idea for the MyEli connected bracelet come from?

It was born from these SMS that we send between girls to reassure each other when we come back from a party: "Well back home".

I never sent that famous message and got yelled at by my friends.

I wanted to find a solution.

At the time, I was 24 years old, in Master 2 at INSEEC in Bordeaux.

I had to validate my course with an innovative project.

We were in the middle of the #BalanceTonPorc period.

Why a jewel?

We needed a warning device that was aesthetic, trendy, but also that one could enjoy wearing a small reassuring device, without it being anxiety-provoking.

And it needed a single click system to trigger an alert.

I didn't want to make a call to 17, the police can't be everywhere.

But I wanted to create a safe bubble.

When you click on the MyEli bracelet, a customizable SMS with GPS position is sent to selected contacts, or a call with a voice indicating the name of the person in distress.

A clickable link is displayed, either to reach the person or to give this position to the competent authorities.

How is MyEli configured?

When installing the dedicated application, the person programs their profile, their contacts, the choice of the alarm.

It can also choose not to send the GPS position.

The alert is given when you click once.

When you double click, you send an SMS: "I have come home well".

No error possible: we have calculated according to the

firmware

of the chip a time lapse between one click, two clicks, the time of the alert ...

What technical challenge did this bracelet constitute?

We have completely miniaturized the chip: 1.8 cm in diameter.

It is an assembly of components that did not exist.

We put in a replaceable battery, no battery, which is a huge barrier to purchasing.

Here, the autonomy is one year, even if you click on your jewel every day.

We have also developed a printed antenna.

It has more range in Bluetooth: 15 meters instead of 10. If the assaulted person has their handbag ripped off with their phone in it, it offers a little extra time to click on the bracelet.

Who supported you for this development?

We worked with two research centers, CATIE in Bordeaux, based on electronics and technology.

They delivered a finished prototype to us.

We also worked with a radio frequency research center, CISTEME in Bordeaux.

For their part, they carried out radio frequency studies ... With them, we also tested several batteries, several printed cards, several antennas.

It all fits in a real brass jewel.

The most difficult thing was to fit the electronics into the brass while letting the waves pass.

You can't see the click, you just feel it and a dead zone between the clickable and the inside of the jewel prevents unwanted clicks.

At worst, there is a False Alert button in the app.

When will the bracelet be released?

We have forged a partnership with a jeweler in Ardèche and we are launching the production of electronics with a Bordeaux subcontractor. We can afford this French production because we are still only working on small quantities. We will launch the production of the first 2000 units and we will deliver the Ulule pre-orders in November, just to find this gem under the tree! MyEli will be launched at 85 euros in its silver version and 90 euros in the gold version. And we are thinking about a collection for children. We had a lot of requests. I also found it important to also offer a solution for men. It's a different target, but there is a real expectation. It's up to us to make this jewel very aesthetic, but very discreet, for men who do not want to explain to their friends that they wear this type of product ...

Finance the project

Ludivine Romary sums up her journey in search of financing: “Since the beginning, we have invested a lot on our own funds. Our share capital is 6,116 euros. Partners arrived in January. A grant from ADI (Industrial Development Assistance) from the Aquitaine Region of 10,000 euros enabled us to launch our design. A bank loan from the CMSO (Crédit Mutuel du Sud Ouest) also helped us. The Women guarantee with France Active guarantees this up to 75%. It's a great springboard for us. I am incubated at Bordeaux TechnoWest. We are still checking with the Aquitaine Region and the BPI. And I just closed a round table with three new partners. 211% full, the crowdfunding campaign on Ulule allows us to reach 20.000 euros in cash advance and to buy our stock ”.
