An elderly man in his 70s has been sentenced to a severe sentence in broad daylight on charges of beating a woman in her 50s with a sledgehammer and trying to kill the owner's sister in a tavern.



The 13th Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court (Chief Judge Ho Seong-ho) sentenced A (77, male), who was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder, to 30 years in prison at the sentencing hearing today (18th).



The court ruled that "the defendant purchased a blunt weapon and brought it to the crime scene simply because he was suspected of using him financially without repaying the borrowed money, and then killed him by hitting the head several times."



He continued, "I hit the murder victim's sister with a blunt weapon, but it failed as he ran away.



However, he explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "I took into account the fact that the accused admitted the crime and he was 77 years old.



At the decision trial held on the 2nd, the prosecution requested a 30-year prison sentence for A.



Person A was arrested and charged with killing owner B (59, female) by hitting the head with a sledgehammer at a pub in Namdong-gu, Incheon at around 12:45 pm on March 8, this year.



Eight minutes after the crime, Mr. B's younger brother C (57, female), who went on an errand for a cigarette, was also found to have tried to kill her by hitting her head and arm with a blunt in the kitchen of the pub.



Person A was found by the fire department in a state of collapsed on the road near Incheon International Airport in Jung-gu, Incheon two hours later after the crime.
