On Wednesday, Moha La Squale, whose real name is Mohamed Bellahmed, 26, was indicted for "sexual assault" and "violence" by a spouse as well as for "forcible confinement".

Six women, aged 23 to 28, filed a complaint against the rapper last September.

Rapper Moha La Squale was indicted Wednesday for "sexual assault" and "violence" by spouse as well as for "kidnapping" following the accusations of several women, a judicial source told AFP, confirming information from Le Monde . The subject of a preliminary investigation since September, Moha La Squale, 26, whose real name is Mohamed Bellahmed, was taken into custody on Monday, according to Le Monde. During his custody, according to a source familiar with the case, at least one confrontation was organized with one of the complainants.

On Wednesday, the rapper was presented to a magistrate as part of a judicial investigation opened by the Paris prosecutor's office.

"He was indicted in particular on counts of violence by spouse, sexual assault by spouse, death threats by spouse and kidnappings on different victims", and placed under judicial control, indicated the judicial source.

Six complaints against the rapper

Moha La Squale was the subject of six complaints, according to a source familiar with the matter, most of them revealed in September 2020. The first three complainants were presented as former companions, aged 23 to 28, of the Parisian rapper. A fourth woman filed a complaint on September 11 and a fifth on September 22. "The investigations have shown how much the word of my clients is as reliable as it is constant", welcomed the lawyer for four plaintiffs, Me Thibault Stumm.

"It is a great satisfaction for my clients who have been living for months under the pressure of this case. By this indictment, the judge fully noted the existence of serious and consistent clues. Let us keep in mind that ' this is only a first step, ”the council added.

A revelation thanks to the #MusicToo movement

Contacted by AFP, Me Elise Arfi, the artist's lawyer, did not respond immediately.

"I have never to the big NEVER raised a hand on a woman. This plot has been perpetuated to harm me" defended "Moha" at the end of April on Twitter.

The #MeToo movement has seen a variation in the world of French music with #MusicToo, which appeared with the account of the same name during the summer of 2020 on Instagram.

This tool has collected several hundred victims of harassment or sexual assault, according to its count.

The existence of #MusicToo took on another dimension in September 2020 with the cases of sexual assault concerning Moha La Squale, Romeo Elvis (who apologized on social networks after accusations of sexual assault on the internet) and Chloe Briot, singer who filed a complaint against a baritone.

Already sentenced for refusing to comply

In mid-April, Moha La Squale was sentenced to six months of house arrest under electronic surveillance in another case, for refusal to comply, contempt and rebellion during a restless police check last year in Paris.

The rapper was one of the big revelations of the year 2018, author of a first album "Bendero" acclaimed by the public and the critics.

Nominated for the Victoires de la musique 2019, the charismatic artist with long hair, passed by the Cours Florent, was spotted with "freestyles" posted on Facebook and YouTube, where we see him rapping in his kitchen or in his neighborhood from "La Banane" to Ménilmontant, in the 20th arrondissement.
