Announced at WWDC 2021 this Monday, June 7, iOS 15 promises to be rich in new features for iPhone users.

Among these, we will find a greatly improved FaceTime, but also an ever more connected iMessage application or a completely redesigned Maps application which will give way to augmented reality.

However. To be able to get your hands on these many new features, you will have to be patient. Indeed, the official release of iOS 15 should not take place before September or even October, while the first public beta version will not be released until July. However, some lucky ones have already been able to get their hands on iOS 15, as soon as it was announced: the developers.

You might not know it, but anyone can have a developer account with Apple.

However, in the world of Apple, you have nothing for nothing.

It will therefore be necessary to pay 99 euros / year to have the chance to get your hands on the OS before everyone else.

In addition, if you want to embark on the adventure, take care of two things: make a backup (on iCloud or locally) before installing the beta and use an iPhone that you no longer use.

Indeed, iOS 15 is still in the development phase, bugs and serious problems can be legion.

To do this, first of all check that the iPhone you want to use is supported by iOS 15.

Subscribe to the Apple Developer Program

If you are not cooled by these three imperatives, then you can embark on the adventure of beta-testing for developers.

First of all, make sure you have an Apple account.

Then head to this address.

You will find all the information (in English) relating to the developer program.

After reading everything, if you wish, click on Enroll in blue at the top right.

In our case, we will register for the program as a person acting in the private sector.

So be sure to read the paragraph under Enrolling as an Individual, verify that you have enabled two-factor authentication and click on Start Your Enrollment.

Then log in using your Apple ID (your email address) and the associated password.

Then validate the authentication operation to continue the membership process.

In the window that follows, Apple tells you your Developer ID as well as the amount you need to pay.

If you want to enable automatic billing renewal, check the box At the bottom of the window, tap Purchase.

Apple will then ask you to sign in again using your account before going to the billing page.

After entering your payment data and validating the transaction, you will receive a confirmation email.

Then close the tab.

Then go to this page related to the developer program for iOS.

Then click on Download at the top right.

You will then be asked to reconnect to your Apple account.

Obviously, be sure to connect to the one with which you have subscribed to the subscription.

You will then access the list of beta OS available for download.

For example, we find iOS 14.7 and iOS 15, macOS Monterey or even tvOS 15. In this case, the operating system we are interested in is iOS 15. Then click on Install profile next to iOS 15 beta.

Your computer will automatically download the file containing the beta of iOS 15 and is called iOS_15_Beta_Profile.

mobileconfig.

The rest then differs depending on whether you downloaded the profile from your iPhone or from a computer.

Install the iOS 15 beta

If you downloaded iOS 15 from a computer, you will have to transfer it to your iPhone by the means of your choice: mail, iCloud, etc. The file is not very large and can be transferred without problem.

Once on your iPhone, find the file and tap on it.

The file will automatically be added to the update profiles installed on your iPhone.

Then head into your iPhone settings.

At the very top of the window, you will find the Downloaded Profile button.

Tap on it and then, after checking the profile for compliance (you must see Verified in green), tap on Install.

You will then be asked to enter the iPhone security code and then give your consent to the installation of the beta.

Then tap Install at the top right, confirm your choice and let your smartphone restart.

When you wake up, don't be surprised if your iPhone is still running iOS 14. Indeed, it is then necessary to install iOS 15.

To do this, nothing simpler.

Head into iPhone settings, General section.

Then tap Software Update.

Your iPhone will do a short search and then offer you the iOS 15 beta. Accept the installation by pressing Download and install.

After two relatively long download and installation processes, you will have the opportunity to try your hand at iOS 15!

Don't worry if a few bugs exist, Apple is working on fixing them right now.
