On July 4, 2019, in Jamwon-dong, Seoul, the same five-story building as this time in Gwangju collapsed toward the road and hit a vehicle. One person died and three others were injured in the accident. The deceased 29-year-old woman was a bride-to-be who was about to get married the following year, and while she and her groom-to-be were looking for a wedding ring, a tragedy occurred.
After the Jamwon-dong disaster, the Building Management Act was amended to prevent similar accidents and the management of building demolition was strengthened.
