<Reporter> As the

effects of weekends and holidays faded, the number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 was 545, an increase of 170 from the previous day.

It stagnated as it recorded 300 people for two days in a row, but it increased again as sporadic cluster infections continued.

Among domestic cases, the metropolitan area accounted for 75.5%, which was overwhelmingly higher than that of non-metropolitan areas.

The number of first-line vaccine recipients increased by 610,000 a day yesterday, exceeding 13.21 million.

It accounted for 25.7% of the population.

If the vaccination goes well, up to 14 million people could get their first dose this week.

There are 3.47 million people who have completed the vaccination, and the vaccination rate is 6.8%.

As the first half of the vaccination is coming to a close, the government is expected to announce the third quarter vaccination plan tomorrow.

[Kim Bu-gyeom/Prime Minister: We will thoroughly prepare and implement so that the national aspirations of achieving collective immunity and recovering daily life can be realized as soon as possible in the face of uncertainty in the supply and demand of vaccines in the global pandemic situation.]

Earlier, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that it had approved the first import of the Moderna vaccine, about 55,000 doses, for national shipment.

National shipping approval is a process in which the country once again checks the quality of a vaccine before it is distributed on the market.

The initial dose of Moderna will be inoculated to health care workers under the age of 30 who belong to a tertiary general hospital from this week.
