<Anchor> The number of

new COVID-19 cases remained at 300 for two days in a row. Yesterday (14th), about 730,000 people received the first vaccination a day, and it seems that the first half of today, the target of 13 million people, will be able to get the first vaccination as soon as possible.

Reporter Park Soo-jin reported.

<Reporter> There

were 374 new confirmed cases of Corona 19 yesterday, maintaining the level of 300 for two days in a row.

Among the new confirmed cases, 347 cases were domestic, excluding 27 imported cases.

By region, there were 257 confirmed cases in the metropolitan area, including 128 in Seoul, and 90 cases in non-metropolitan areas, including 16 in Daegu.

It is the first time in three months since March 15 that the number of daily confirmed cases recorded 300 for two consecutive days, but it is still difficult to feel relieved due to the decrease in the number of weekend tests.

Although the number of severe cases and deaths is decreasing as vaccinations accelerate, sporadic cluster infections and the spread of mutated viruses are too early to relieve tension.

[Kwon Deok-cheol / Minister of Health and Welfare: The infection reproduction index, which had been on the decline, recorded 1.02 last week, and again exceeded 1. If you're not careful, Corona 19 can spread at any time.]

Yesterday, 731,700 people received the first vaccine a day, and the number of cumulative first doses increased to 12.56 million people, 24.5% of the total population.

It is expected that the first vaccination of 13 million people, the target of vaccination in the first half of today, will be possible as early as today.

The government is planning to apply a new social distancing reform plan that will ease business restrictions from next month if 13 million people are vaccinated and the daily number of confirmed cases remains below 1,000.
