Jeon Hae-cheol, a former aide to the Minister of the Interior and Safety, was arrested and handed over to trial on charges of land speculation in the Jangsang district of Ansan, the third new city.
The Ansan Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office announced yesterday (12th) that they had arrested and indicted Han, a former aide to the former minister, on charges of violating the Anti-Corruption Act.
In April 2019, Mr. Han is accused of buying 1,500 square meters of farmland in Jangsang-dong, Sangnok-gu, Ansan for 300 million won using inside information obtained in the course of business.
The time when Mr. Han purchased the land was one month before the area was designated as the third new city, before the inauguration of Minister Jeon Jeon.
In fact, the land that Mr. Han bought is currently about 1.2 billion won, four times higher than the purchase price.
