After the resignation of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol in March, Cho Nam-gwan, who was de facto deposed after leading the organization as acting prosecutor general, held an inauguration ceremony today (11th) and acted as acting prosecutor general for the past three months. He shared his feelings about being in charge.

At 10:30 am today, at the inauguration ceremony held at the Jincheon Legal Research and Training Center in North Chungcheong Province, President Cho stated the premise that "prosecution reform is an unavoidable request of the times."

He also pointed out 'political neutrality' as another factor that supports and enables prosecutorial reform.

Director Cho explained, "Prosecutor reform and political neutrality are like wheels that make the carriage of the prosecution roll."

If either one is absent, it means that the prosecution function cannot function normally.

Director Cho said, “Prosecution reform that does not guarantee political neutrality weakens the power to investigate corruption and cannot establish the value of justice and fairness. It is difficult and there is no control over the exercise of the prosecution power, so I cannot be free from the yoke of enveloping my family.”

It is interpreted as pointing out the current situation in which the political neutrality of the prosecution organization is being destroyed and proper prosecution reform is not being achieved.

Director Cho emphasized, "The prosecution must be proud in front of power and humble before the people."

In particular, Director Cho pointed out the past mistakes of the prosecution, saying, "It is the history of mischief that there were times when I crouched endlessly in front of power and tried to rule arrogantly in front of the people."
