Users pay a fixed amount per month to watch additional content or access episodes earlier.

The subscription service is added to the Apple Podcasts app.

Actually, the tech giant had already wanted to introduce the subscriptions last month, but more time was needed for development.

The subscriptions should be available from June 15 and cost $19.99 (more than 16 euros) per year.

Apple also promises to release an update to fix various issues of the app.

Apple was one of the first tech companies to offer a permanent place for free podcasts in its music app iTunes.

Later, the tech giant released the separate podcast app.
