hits
theaters on June 11

premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 19
after its arrival in theaters was delayed at the end of April due to the pandemic.

But, before that moment arrives, Fesser will receive the Biznaga de Honor at the Malaga Film Festival on June 11 and comments that
there are several remakes of
Champions
, the great success of Spanish cinema in 2018, on the way. With this work, Javier Fesser he achieved the treble: success at the box office, he won numerous awards (up to three Goya Awards he took) and, most importantly, he triumphed on the street and changed the perception of many regarding disability. That comedy, with non-professional actors who accompanied others as experienced as Javier Gutiérrez, has led to several remakes.
Fesser himself confirms this: "

). When we negotiated with the producer the rights
for the remake in English, I asked two things so that the film would not lose its essence
: one, that it was played by people with intellectual disabilities. And, two, that the ending was maintained. It seems to me that, without that, the film is different. Although I commented this as a joke referring to the final game. To my surprise,
the The producer accepted the first condition but the second did not put it in writing.
For this reason, it opened the door for it to be changed due to market circumstances that go beyond the commercial.

A WAY BACKWARD: FROM STREAMING TO THE LIVING ROOM
Returning to the theatrical release of
Lamentable Stories
, Fesser acknowledges that "it has not been an easy road to release a film on the platform and then take it to theaters."
The filmmaker
acknowledges
that he does not have data on how many people have seen his work on Amazon Prime Video
, but he does admit that they have liked it. And a lot. "I would love to know the number of views, but I do not have it because Amazon does not provide it to anyone. I can say that I have received very good opinions from those who agreed to see it on the platform."
Although, in a fit of sincerity, Fesser admits having observed strange faces in people in the film industry who did not see with good eyes that the film reached a

platform earlier
than to theaters. "We are at a time that is not easy and I understand everyone.
Although we have interests in different places, we are united by the love of cinema.
