According to the Gwangju Fire Department on the 9th, as of 8:20 p.m., 17 people were injured in the accident.



The casualties occurred inside a city bus that was crushed by the rubble of a collapsed building.



Immediately after the accident, the fire department estimated the number of people buried at 12 based on the testimony of survivors and eyewitnesses and started rescue operations.



As the torn and crushed body of the bus was exposed through heavy equipment work, additional buried persons that were not previously identified were discovered.



Nine of the 17 people who have been identified so far and passengers on city buses have died.



The first death was declared in the accident at around 7:09 p.m., when the wreckage of the building was removed with heavy equipment and the crushed body was exposed.



The three people who were later found were also transferred to the hospital in cardiac arrest, where they were declared dead.



After 8 pm, when the rescue of the buried city bus reached the end, five people were found dead at once.



Rescue of the city bus driver was completed at 8:15 pm.



Eight people who were rescued through a window hole in the front of the city bus at the beginning of the rescue operation were dispersedly transported to a local general hospital.



Rescue authorities are checking to see if there are additional buried people other than city bus passengers, such as passers-by and construction officials.



This accident occurred at about 4:22 pm today at the site of the demolition of the reconstruction building in Hak-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju.



As the entire 5-story commercial building collapsed, a city bus stopped at the bus stop in front of the building was crushed under the rubble.



The authorities plan to identify the cause of the collapse through a joint investigation by functions such as firefighting, police, gas, electricity, building, and structural safety.
