The first trial of a civil lawsuit filed this week by Kim Ji-eun, who exposed the sexual assault of the then Chungnam governor Ahn Hee-jung in 2018, against the perpetrator Ahn Hee-jeong, the former governor of South Chungcheong Province, is scheduled to be held this week.

On the 11th, Judge Oh Deok-sik of the Civil Settlement Division 22 of the Seoul Central District Court will hold the first defense of a claim for damages filed by Kim against the former governor Ahn and Chungcheongnam-do.

Former governors Kim and Ahn are not expected to appear in court.

In July of last year, Kim filed a civil suit claiming 300 million won from former Governor Ahn, claiming that he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Kim, who worked as an assistant to the former governor, revealed that he had been sexually assaulted and molested by the former governor in March 2018.

Afterwards, former Governor Ahn was charged with adultery, sexual harassment by the power of work, and forced molestation, but was acquitted in the first trial.

The reason was that it was difficult to trust Mr. Kim and the statement of his former assistant that he had heard of the damage from Mr. Kim.

However, the second trial sentenced former Governor Ahn to three years and six months in prison and detained him, saying, "It is difficult to see that the victim's statement is consistent and there is no motive or reason to accuse the accused."

This judgment was confirmed by the Supreme Court, and former Governor Ahn is currently serving a sentence in Gwangju Prison.
