Vaccination times have been delayed for teachers in daycare centers, kindergartens, and 1st and 2nd graders of elementary school. This is because Pfizer, Moderna, and Vaccines, which have shorter vaccination intervals, are changed for full school attendance in the second semester. Other faculty and senior high school students will be vaccinated during summer break.

Reporter Ahn Sang-woo reports.

The vaccination period for teachers in daycare centers, kindergartens, and first and second grades of elementary school has been postponed from next week to next month.

Vaccines also change from AstraZeneca to Pfizer and Moderna.

[Daycare worker: After the change, there are actually a lot of people who are disappointed. Because I have to wait more than a month... .] The

education and health authorities explain that the change in the vaccination plan is to make a safer school ahead of the second semester.

The AstraZeneca vaccine, which was previously intended to be vaccinated, has an interval of 11 to 12 weeks.

On the other hand, Pfizer Vaccine is 3 weeks apart and Moderna Vaccine is 4 weeks apart.

Even if the first inoculation from July includes the second inoculation and the antibody formation period of 2 weeks after that, it will be completed before the start of the second semester.

[Jeong Eun-kyung/Director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Although the first vaccination is effective, it is the most important situation to complete the second vaccination in order to prevent a mutated virus, infection, or severe disease.]

Other elementary, middle, and high school staff are also vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna in July and August.

High school students receive Pfizer vaccines during summer vacation.

Health authorities are also scheduling vaccinations with out-of-school test takers over the age of 18.

Starting next week, the AstraZeneca vaccine, which was intended to be targeted to teachers, plans to shift to those aged 60 and over.
